Pros

The Salary and annual bonus

Cons

I accepted an offer from BAT promising relocation to the Warsaw hub. I was told that once I arrived, I would sign the contract under the Polish entity and the salary would match what was in the offer letter. Based on that, I relocated with my family... moved countries, arranged visas etc. But on arrival, HR handed me a contract with a lower salary than what was promised in the offer. I was pressured to sign. Because my work visa was tied to this specific company, I was stuck: either sign for less or refuse and face losing the visa and having no job. Given I had already moved my family, refused to sign wasn’t really an option. From talking to other foreign colleagues who relocated, this isn’t a one-off. It seems BAT sometimes takes advantage of people newly arrived, who are unfamiliar with Polish employment law. Even though an offer letter says a salary, it feels like that can be changed last minute. It’s unfair, in my view, and puts employees in a vulnerable position.

Pros

Very strong compensation package, lots of very nice genuine people on the Reynolds US side

Cons

Toxic, politically charged environment, cliques of people each trying to place their own people in roles. A singular mis-trust and dislike of "outside" people who are brought in to move the company forward but the existing people who have worked there for years and years are all trying to protect and sustain their own roles and their own cliques. All show and pretty presentations but no meaningful, meaty strategy
