Pros

So many kind-hearted individuals and we pride ourselves on the very diverse (over 60% of the workforce)! I've had the privilege to engage with numerous incredible tutors and graduates from the literacy program, some of whom later became tutors and mentors themselves. The primary focus of the organization is putting kids first. Over the past 24 years, the CEO and Co-founder has shown unwavering dedication, tirelessly striving to create a significant impact on thousands of school children. Her determination serves as an inspiration to the entire staff.

Cons

The demand for Beyond Basics' services has experienced exponential growth year after year, causing the organization to confront certain growing pains. Therefore, much like other thriving organizations, it remains a dynamic environment. So, if you seek mundane and unchanging routines, and if you wish to decelerate, this might not be the optimal match.

Pros

Helping struggling kids and coworkers

Cons

I was laid off in the summer like most of the other students. I was not called back like most of my coworkers and wasn’t given an explanation.
