Toxic culture, zero work-life balance, and unrealistic demands - Software Engineer Brightly Software Employee Review

Pros

Currently, the company operates on a 2-day hybrid work model, which is convenient. Standard annual holidays are provided. Caveat: There is a strong, looming sentiment among employees that even these basic perks will be revoked by management very soon.

Cons

Toxic Work Culture: The environment took a massive dive after the recent merger. The new upper management has completely shifted the atmosphere, making day-to-day operations incredibly stressful and chaotic. Pathetic Work-Life Balance: Management expects employees to use AI to magically achieve a 5x to 10x spike in productivity. The workload is completely unmanageable within standard working hours. Unfair "Startup" Expectations: Despite being an established SaaS company, managers demand a "startup hustle." We are routinely expected to extend shifts, work on weekends, and log in on holidays—with absolutely no comp-offs granted for the extra time. Unprofessional Leadership: Several managers severely lack basic people skills, often behaving rudely and unprofessionally toward their teams. Zero Learning & Innovation: There are no new learning opportunities. The company’s sole focus has shifted exclusively to rapid profit and output, completely abandoning innovation, employee growth, and core company values. Dismal Appraisals: Despite the grueling hours and the intense push for multiplied productivity, the appraisals are absolutely pathetic and do not reflect the extra effort demanded from the team.
