Pros

Great opportunity: the Dallas office is expanding rapidly enough to contribute to a startup-like atmosphere. Very interesting and relevant industry. Lots of networking opportunity. Products of work are tangible and contribute to the local community. BURY truly cares about people. I believe in the leadership, company, and work. Most, if not all, of who I met from the company felt the same way. Many sincerely consider it to be the best company they've ever worked for. The hierarchy is very flat - as an intern I often reported directly to the principals of the Dallas office. Flexible hours - as long as it is communicated. Since the company is in an expansion phase, the growing pains consist of figuring out future benefits and culture, thus, now and in the near-future, employee comments are taken into increased consideration. ~Everyone is willing to work extra hours and go above and beyond for the company. It can also be a con (see cons). Someone close to Paul, the CEO, attributed Paul's success to two things: he cares about relationships, and he cares about people.

Cons

Negative sides of the growing pains consist of relative disorganization and a constantly-shifting, thus most of the time undefined, hierarchy. Many processes haven't been standardized/streamlined. A lot of grunt work which took me a day could have taken an hour if there was a process for it. BURY would greatly benefit from an expert in VBA and Excel with knowledge of the Real Estate Development Industry. Since a significant portion of the company work long hours (60 to 80+ depending on the workload), there is a large push to do the same which may disrupt work-life balance. Stronger attention to personal work-life balance must be taken.

Pros

This is a great place to work, but with an uncertain future. The office is centrally located, it is comfortable and very nice. Colleagues are great, there is a sense of friendship and great inter personal relationships. We have a social event once a month for the entire office, and many lunch and learn programs (pizza supplied by management).

Cons

Branch office, little bit of a redheaded step child. I've experienced that before and have tried to break through by offering my department's services to the other offices. This is still going slow and not heavily supported by management. The other item is that this office used to be a different company that was bought out, and that still seems to affect things.
