Pros

Used to be a great company...salaries was good and bonuses were great. Managers don't micromanage and time is flexible.

Cons

Managers show favoritism to those who kiss their 'you know what'. Those favorites have less experience, but get promoted. The company has recently laid off more than 100 employees due to a 'teaming agreement' with another Medicare contractor instead of trying to find jobs within the company or HBS/BCBS umbrella for people who have been with the company for 15+ years. Good quality caring, honest, faithful, experienced people gone and not only were they laid off, but they also did not offer health insurance coverage thru the following month. Last day was May 29th, and insurance ended May 31st. Former employees were not offered a severance package at all because it is a non/Medicare allowable cost, but the other company(under the same umbrella) CSA offered their employees severance. Let's not forget the retention bonus that was offered if you stayed until May 29th, but (here's the catch) you could not accept an offer of employment during that time. So if you managed to get hired by the 'partnering company' you get no retention bonus even if you stayed til May 29th. accept an offer of employment during that time. So if you managed to get hired by the 'partnering company' you get no retention bonus even if you stayed til May 29th. I'm done for now...you decide if you still want to work for Cahaba or not...you definitely can't make it a career with longevity.

Pros

Schedules are flexible, managers do not micro-manage you as long as you do your job and you are producing. Managers as individuals are really good people and are very understanding.

Cons

poor management, no room to move up, unorganized, unprofessional, low morale, the managers really don't know how to encourage and motivate their employees; many network and computer issues, management tends to take more of a reactive approach rather than a proactive approach. They wait until something happens to develop a plan of action.
