Pros
-A ton of company sponsored events that have free food which include plenty of inebriating drinks (if that's your thing). -A good opportunity to be able to listen to cutting edge research by reputable scientists (internally and externally). -If you're lucky, you get to work with some insanely intelligent post-docs who are willing to meet you were you are scientifically :)
Cons
-Low pay (makes one question the many company sponsored events, some of us would like to enjoy our money at home with those who matter). -Research carefully who your boss is and their level of experience in management. They can be great, or they may be but a mere fledgling who is just getting their bearings and you are at the receiving end of it. Bonus points if they are in the process of family expansion. -Depending on the lab, it can be quite cliquey and some love to destroy the line between personal and professional life. -No opportunities for career progression unless you have a PhD, or your boss is a director.
