Pros

City employees have amazing benefits and most city jobs are backed by unions. Trusts always nice. Most teams are in favor of finding a work-life balance that’s is good for the employee. Finding community is possible through employee resource group and worksite wellness projects.

Cons

Many people get cozy in their roles and begin taking more time to complete their projects. That’s my main issue. There’s a lot of office politics at play, even when they say they’re all about a collaborative approach. I’ve had projects pulls from me because a deputy commissioner said their office should set the standard, even when I had been volentold to lead the project and grew a sense of pride in my work. The agency will also make professional development opportunities hard to access.
