Pros

1. You'll meet and work with incredible VP's/C's that you wouldn't have access to right out of college. 2. Pay can be good **especially after you hit your second year. 3. You can work from anywhere (in theory) 4. Like any job you might meet some good people in the mix of bad ones.

Cons

1. STOP ASKING EMPLOYEES FOR POSITIVE REVIEWS! Coincidence that positive reviews are popping up days after a couple negatives ones broke? Nope. This happened when I worked at Daversa and I'm not shocked to see it happening now. Reached out to my former colleague and she confirmed that she received an email from a manager asking her to "take a couple minutes" and leave a review. 2. Kiss your mental health goodbye. Upper management does not care about you or your wellbeing. If there's a client deadline coming up, you will be asked to work late nights, early mornings, weekends, and whatever it takes to make it happen while upper management is so far removed from the process that they don't even know who your candidates are. 3. Cult leadership. When I was at Daversa the company was only 70 people and calling it a "family" still felt like a stretch. The company is somewhere around 140 today with NO HR and plenty of booze-fueled company events to spin up a scandal. Don't bother reporting anything, because you WILL be swept under the rug and/or threatened. 4. No professionalism. When I left Daversa, I was immediately blacklisted from SV. My former "family" wouldn't talk to me or write recommendations. The partnership tried to bully me into staying with threats that I was leaving the best thing I'd ever had. 4. You do NOT get paid enough for this. When you're fresh out of college, 50,000 a year might feel like a lot. But when you live in NYC and are working for minimum wage while doing 75% of the work for partners who make 5x what you do, it feels a little unfair. The promotion system is done by "class" so you and your peers all get promoted together. When I left, over half of my peers had already left.
