Tense hostile environment - Most of the staff are friendly but office politics reigns supreme and makes the office feel like high school. People will be openly rude or aggressive to other team members. Any anonymous forums (All Hands, Offsites) will be a space for teams to belittle other teams. Parties and events happen often to force a "fun" culture. High turnover - People leave frequently for higher paying jobs or better companies. Random firings are common. You will come in to work to find someone has been disappeared with no explanation. Asking questions isn't encouraged. There's a constant feeling that you might be next. Poor pay - Good work is not valued. This is spoken about openly and regularly brought up at All Hands. Mark Roden will shrug this off by saying if the pay was bad people wouldn't work there. Another reason good team members are regularly walking out the door. Office politics - Mentioned already but this time in relation to senior management. If you're liked by the right people you will do okay. If you are not liked by the right people you'll be walked on. Roden walks around like Mr. Burns. Customer Care Team - As mentioned by other reviewers, CC are treated like second class citizens. They have to sit and listen to any pizza nights or parties while they're trying to work. Creates a sense of division in the office between those who make the product and those who answer emails. Terrible leadership - C level and senior management is a revolving door. High level goals change suddenly. Context switching and swivel chairing is common, leaving team members no choice but to work far beyond office hours to deliver on goals. New deliverables feel like they're pulled from a hat with no time to prepare or design. PS - As others have noted, many of the positive reviews of this company appear fake. Anyone who has worked for Ding would not be shocked.
