Pros

The colleagues and managers in stores are a fantastic bunch of people. The job itself, whether you're a colleague or manager, is simple. I'd say that as an assistant manager you have a responsibility of a glorified team leader in "normal" retail environment - the teams are small and there isn't much of "managing" to do :) Customers are mostly lovely and happy and you get to know your regulars pretty well. The technology is getting better and much more user friendly.

Cons

Most stores are understaffed. After letting go peak temps and many more staff, we are left with the bare minimum of people. Understandable from business point of view, but difficult to try and keep people happy and engaged when you have redundancies flying left right and centre. It's impossible to get cover for holidays and sicknesses, which means lots of lone working and stress when juggling customers and couriers on your own. It's expected the store managers and assistant managers will put in extra hours (and days) but with the pay borderline average (especially for London) it's hard to find the motivation.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to write the review. It is disappointing that you feel we have turned into a 'Corporate beast' as this is not our intention and not how we would want to be known. We pride ourselves on our Values and strive to keep these at the forefront of what we do. We have recently changed the structures within our stores to reduce the number of staffing hours allocated to each store, this was following feedback from colleagues saying that you felt the stores were over staffed and there was not enough to do in stores. Change always takes some time to get used to, but things will settle down once the new rota's become the norm across the stores Kind regards Karen - Director of People

Pros

Not many. Working remote was nice, not having to be around the CEO of North America - Dan Nevin. I have worked with this guy at two different stops and have seen him be totally disrespectful treating people that report to him like total jerks. Don't waste your time with this guy.

Cons

So you are selling a returns portal that is far behind the race when it comes to certain functionality and capabilities. You will be able to sell to brands and retailers that don't know any better and haven't studied the competition. Those brands that have done their homework will quickly sniff out the ineffectiveness of the portal. Doddle does have a few "work arounds" but the large enterprise retailers don't want "work arounds". Secondly - partnering with the USPS is a total disaster. Brand and Retailers don't respect the USPS. Without this appreciation and respect, a successful partnership seems very difficult. Lastly - Our goals changed monthly. The CEO of NA had no idea what he was doing during this time. Working remotely I felt like I was working on an island selling this solution by myself.
