Pros

Good to get experience in order to move on to a better company.

Cons

Working at Ethos is a dead end with no chance of advancement, especially for women. This is the only company I ever worked for with not only no annual raises or at least raises based on performance, but simply no raises at all. Barring a miracle, whatever rate you are hired at will be what you will make for as many years as you stay there. Good work is not appreciated or rewarded. Promotions are based on nepotism and giving to men only, without ever listing the opening, so everybody would have a chance to apply. Management is incompetent. My supervisor doesn’t know how to talk to people at all. Threats and screaming are standard procedure. Ethos does not care about their employees at all. Female full time employees have taken work from them to be given to male part time employees, because the supervisor hates women. Complaints are either ignored or brushed off.

Pros

Remote work is a major plus. Good entry point into utilization review and workers’ compensation. You learn medical terminology, guidelines, claims processes, and client-specific requirements quickly. Some team members and leads are helpful and supportive. The work can be steady and predictable once you understand the process.

Cons

Training can feel overwhelming because there are many clients, portals, rules, and exceptions. Workload can become high, especially near deadlines. Processes and instructions may change often. The role requires strong attention to detail, and small mistakes can become stressful. Pay may feel low compared to the amount of responsibility and complexity. Communication and expectations are not always as clear as they could be.
