Dan Pomerantz and Peter Burchhardt built a fantastic community of colleagues at ExpressVPN. Everyone I worked with was super talented, hardworking, and generous with their time and expertise. The team was diverse, not just in backgrounds but also in hobbies and interests. On any given night, you could go to see a colleague's band play, watch a colleague do stand-up comedy, visit a colleague's art show opening, or play on a colleague's quiz night team. Never a dull moment! Of all the places I've worked, ExpressVPN provided the best work/life balance. Time spent at work was challenging, fun, and hyperfocused; evenings and weekends could be enjoyed to the fullest — sometimes with friends/colleagues — without having to check your Slack messages or email (unless you were on call). Professionally, working at ExpressVPN in the early days gave me a chance to wear many different hats and tackle a wide variety of challenges. I was empowered to try out and master new things. I gained valuable experience working cross-functionally with people across the entire org: data analysts, engineers, ops, product, talent acquisition, HR, content, customer support, SEO, marketing, and probably more. Our achievements — as individuals, teams, or the company as a whole — were celebrated, and we learned from our mistakes. I was lucky to be part of the journey!
