Pros

The office at Farmigo feels more like a coffeehouse than a corporate environment. Makes it a nice place to work each day. Team members are always willing to hangout during the day and vent about their workloads. Employee discount on groceries is a huge plus.

Cons

One of the main concerns that I have about Farmigo is the transparency about the future of the business. We were told that we had raised another round of venture backing in June, but there hasn't been any press or media coverage to confirm this. Usually when startups raise another round, they want people to know so as to prove that the company is on the right track. We are also expanding into a new market with Seattle before we have mastered how we do what we do in New York and Berkeley. The other issue with Farmigo is the pay is pretty lousy. Normally this expected at a startup, but we aren't even offered performance related bonuses. It feels like Farmigo wants you to burnout and will then replace you.

Pros

I worked with wonderful farmers and producers, and it felt great to help them to run their businesses more successfully.

Cons

One of the reviews for Farmigo called it "tech + nonprofit" - which says a lot, because it's a B-corporation, not a nonprofit, but it pays worse than many nonprofits. Upper (micro)management: I didn't feel appreciated until I gave notice. Farmigo hires smart people who believe in the mission, but it doesn't value the contributions of all its employees. I spent as much time justifying my work as I did actually doing my work. Everyone on the team was overworked, all the time. Unprofessional, especially around human resources-related issues. Lack of transparency and lack of trust: The CEO is a great salesman. He told us only what we needed to know, and no more. It seemed that he didn't trust many of the people on his team, and as a result, it was impossible to really trust him.
