Pros

Fee earners and staff on the whole very friendly Socials open to the whole company which allows for mixing of support staff with fee earners and management Salary is above average

Cons

Not sure on the below reviews about there being none! Some departments are severely dated- management structure belongs in the 90s Progression paths for support staff simply do not exist Too many managers and not enough working staff (I would say that you are promoted into a managerial or co-ordinator role based on two things: length of time worked at the firm and a face fit policy, and nothing to do with your credentials and skill set) IT is dated, constantly breaking down, IT management is unapproachable and not willing to change. Culture of the firm is to side step focus of the support departments and personnel who make it a great place to work at, thereby leaving them demoralised, and then showing complete shock when they leave. Hiring and firing process is sometimes completely unjust Only one office, the firm insists that they won't open any other presence in other countries despite a global client base Building is dated, from the outside and Reception areas look nice, however inside across the floors, the paintwork is dirty, office infrastructure (desks, chairs and PC equipment) is in dire need of an upgrade.

Pros

Is a friendly firm that seems to punch above its weight, so it does give confidence in Senior Management. Is not a firm that works you hard so work-life balance is good, although likely to change with the outdated desire to have people in the office more. Individual teams get on well and is one of the few firms I would say where 99% of employees are approachable. Death in Service pay out benefit is probably the best I have ever seen.

Cons

Is very lawyer centric (as most firms are). No bonus for business services and budgets for back-office department "do's" are very small so ultimately I have no real feel or care for the firm so long as I get paid. Having a Partner heavy setup, being their USP, does seem odd and some of these Partners are most definitely overpaid and would be better as in-house lawyers rather than working for a law firm.
