Pros
Good exposure to many verticals and industries. Having the ability to work remotely or come to the office was nice. Work-life balance wasn't bad.
Cons
Upper management is very out of touch with reality. They will say everything is fine, then lay off half the team later. Many portfolio companies are failing. There is always conflict between Fractal and the portfolio companies, impacting employee morale. It's not fun to come to work every day when the founders you're supposed to help dislike your company and are taking action against you. Company reputation in the VC ecosystem is poor, and we're labeled as black sheep. Having joined a real VC firm after my time at Fractal, it's a night and day difference.
