Pros

Depending on where you are at in your career, there is potential to learn from this business.

Cons

Most toxic working environment I’ve ever been a part of which stems directly from management. First of all, I’ll start with the drinking culture. Never have I ever worked at a company where alcohol was so widely available at all gatherings: happy hours, dinners, offsites. It’s weird and honestly unprofessional. And not only that, but if you choose to not participate in these functions, you will be at the bottom of the food chain during regular working hours because your coworkers have now “bonded” without you. There are no opportunities to bond outside of work that don’t directly involve alcohol. The second thing I’d like to call out is the lack of boundaries regarding social media. I personally think it’s extremely invasive for the founders to be following their employees personal accounts on social media. It’s one thing to follow someone and another to be watching their every story post, which both founders regularly do. Do not work here if you actually care about the mission because at the end of the day, the only thing management cares about is the bottom dollar. Of course this is a business that must be making money in order to grow, however there are much more ethical ways to go about it. They show zero respect or appreciation for their hard working employees who hustle all day and night to keep this brand relevant. The frustrating part is that they hire these amazing, creative, passionate individuals and then don’t actually listen to any of their ideas. If I had a nickel for every time a strong, intelligent, experienced businesswoman came in with fresh ideas for her to be absolutely stepped on and thrown out like the trash….As soon as one of your ideas flops (which btw marketing for a new brand is all testing and seeing what sticks), you are basically guaranteed to be let go under the guise of “reorganization”. Part of me thinks it stems from the founders insecurities. They seem to be very intimidated by other strong women which is unfortunate seeing as they pride themselves on being “women founded” ….. Currently, this “women founded” company is being run primarily by men. At the end of the day, these founders don’t care about what anyone has to say, even from the people that know the brand the best. They don’t need to care because they are all set in their personal lives and don’t actually need this business to work. It’s a hobby for them and the disconnect between their real world experiences versus the customers they are targeting is insurmountable. I can’t see this brand going anywhere for that reason alone, unless they were to step back from the company.

Pros

Hardworking team with lots of expertise, great products, beautiful office in NYC

Cons

Fur is a small company and often operates with an "all hands on deck" attitude and requirement to wear multiple hats - that might not be for everyone

Pros

Maybe free products? Can't really think of anything else...

Cons

The culture at Fur is super unfriendly and cliquey. I noticed this on day one. Leadership is all over the place in terms of their objectives and will scrap plans at the last second to then go in a completely different direction without warning. There's a reason turnover is high - not somewhere I would recommend at all.
