Pros

Has great people and some beneficial training programs. The company also is located in major city zones which is attractive for young talent and experience professionals alike.

Cons

GaiaTech goes not have a "toxic" group of people as a previous reviewer indicated. It's hard to accept the notion that all the people leaving during my time were the "C" performers. Some of my better colleagues left for some of the other reasons described below. The real issue is that the company has not recognized it's young talent and does not put the same level of stock in employees regardless of level or experience. There is a widening gap between senior consultants and junior staff. Upper management knows in order to maintain current progress senior level folk are essential and it has created a revolving door as younger staffare replaceable. This practice however, is not sustainable. The idea that GaiaTech retains "C" level employees is a disgrace to the company. There are those that seem to dip their heads into the sand and fail to recognize the poor strategies and management practices in place.

Pros

My first couple months have been so satisfying. Beautiful offices, caring employees and my boss might just break into the top five of my lifetime. It's a very quiet office until Friday afternoon and then all bets are off. Last Friday was the annual boating excursion and it was easy to spend time with people I don't know very well because they are amazingly friendly.

Cons

What's not to like? Amazing people, historic LaSalle St building, riding Metra makes more sense than the Red Line, diverse and odd food trucks for lunch, farmer's market twice a week and Kristkindlmarkt in the winter. This job is wonderful. OK, I'll dig deep....they don't let me use color ink in my printer.

Pros

Difficult to come up with many pros to working at GaiaTech. However, the internal training provided to employees is excellent. Co-workers are great.

Cons

Raises and bonuses are promised but don't happen and when they do they are almost not worth mentioning. Company only focuses on numbers and how much money you bring in and it does not matter if the project was underbid the employee will get blamed. Internal promotions don't happen because they look to the outside to find people who can bring contacts with them. Senior management has literally laughed in the face of an employee who asked about a promotion. Upper management is a boys club who do not like working women with children. It's an environmental company that does not believe in telework. Senior management thinks employees will take advantage of the company. They expect employees to travel on their own time and take advantage of employees and don't see that they should be more flexible on schedules with all the travel expected by employees. Too many cons to list.
