Pros

The work is incredibly rewarding and everyone working in the Asheville center is kind and understanding. The BCBAs are amazing as well as the center manager, all of them are always willing to jump onto the floor and help out however they can when necessary. Everyone is supportive and encouraging to eachother. The benefits are decent, and even include tuition discounts to certain online universities. If you would like to become a BCBA HB does have a great fellowship program which you can do while earning your masters degree. Management is very good about approving time off, which is important to avoid burnout.

Cons

Pays less than living wage in Asheville NC for a job that can be incredibly mentally and physically taxing at times. They are the lowest paying ABA establishment in the area, as a result many employees only stay a few months to become trained and then transfer to a higher paying company. This results in understaffing and patients having different RBTs frequently which is not good for their progress. In addition to this, it is rare to be given a break, because they are not legally mandated in North Carolina Hopebridge will not require employees to get any break. When there are extra staff members it is possible to get breaks but this is rare. There is a limiting attendance policy which is unfair for the amount of times you will get sick especially if you have not worked with kids before. They do not accept doctor's notes to remove points, even if you have a documented illness for every absence you will still be immediately terminated at 9 points and there is no way to avoid this. We do not go by the same weather closing schedule as schools or daycares, in fact, it isn't even up to center management to close during inclement weather. It is up to regional management (who does not live here) to decide on inclement weather closings and they almost never do. You will be given attendance points for not coming in to work even if it is incredibly dangerous to do so. Reminder that 9 points in six months will result in immediate termination even though we are already understaffed.

Pros

I loved working at Hopebridge. Management was incredible and BCBAs were very supportive. Fellow RBTs also helped so much and made the day easier to get through.

Cons

When you are freshly an RBT (and I mean literally.. the day after you pass) you are thrown into subbing if there isn't a caseload ready for you. It can be extremely overwhelming for someone who just passed their exam.

Pros

Team potlucks and occasional opportunities for coworker connection.

Cons

Policies and expectations were unclear from the start. Information was often passed between staff instead of directly from leadership, leading to frequent contradictions and confusion. Management lacked fairness and consistency. Availability that was clearly communicated was not respected, and agreed-upon scheduling accommodations were not followed. This created unnecessary stress, especially for employees balancing childcare and other responsibilities. There appeared to be clear inconsistencies in how flexibility was granted, which at times felt selective rather than policy-based. There were also concerns regarding illness protocols. Clients who were visibly unwell were not always sent home in a timely manner, even when it impacted their ability to participate in therapy. This created challenges for both staff and client well-being. The work environment also felt unprofessional at times, with indirect communication and inappropriate discussions about staff. Support during medical or personal situations was limited, with a more rigid and punitive approach taken even when reasonable alternatives were available. Overall, this was not a supportive or well-structured environment, and I would not recommend it.
