Pros

The Icix business model is a good one. The company has grown quite a bit the last year and it has potential to be very successful. There are a lot of good people at the company.

Cons

Engineering senior management fragmented and the CTO seems to be out of his depth. Earlier last year engineering seemed to have promising vision for adding new technologies, but has been stagnant since management changes during the 2nd half of 2012. Morale is low and myself and many of my colleagues feel demotivated and undervalued. This seems to stem from a lack of downward communication and a lack of direction and vision. Engineering was asked to survey the management team several weeks back and has yet to see the results. I am beginning to wonder if the results were so poor that some of the management team are trying to bury it. Many in engineering were surprised that the CTO didn't recognize the menu structure of our product in a recent presentation and it was talked about by many for several days afterward.

Pros

Solution is built stop a world class cloud platform. We have a super collaborative and diverse culture... everyone is looking to work together and help one another. Executive team rewards those that go above and beyond and take charge. Its one of the few places where you can work your way up into a true leadership role.

Cons

If you don't like working hard and need a predefined roadmap to know what to do next, you'll feel a little lost. There is plenty of leadership opportunity... you just need to take it. The negative comments are from those that are used to being spoonfed... Being a leader a leader means finding the gaps that need plugging, figuring out how to plug it, be transparant, get consensus, get permission if need be (it will be given if you are right) and go for it. All why doing your day job...
