Pros

The people (read in a sappy, heartfelt kind of way).

Cons

It’s not news that this company is old-fashioned; however, it’s disappointing to experience how hard Informed resists positive change. The expectations of senior staff are lagging behind the sector and do not create the atmosphere of a modern professional services organisation. Responsibility is mistaken for trust, loyalty is demanded rather than earned through good leadership, and benefits are applied insecurely to avoid a remote possibility of misuse. Informed’s leadership is somewhat disconnected; the CEOs come across as overly self-assured and out of touch. The company policies around holidays and sick leave are rigid and hostile. Holiday entitlement must be accrued (at least in part) before use. Any previously booked holiday within your first three months of work must be taken as unpaid, which is unusual when compared with industry norms. Similarly, the lack of paid sick leave in your probation period (which can be up to a year for graduates) risks discriminating against people with chronic or mental health conditions. Requiring disclosure for basic health support is not an adequate provision when considering the possibility of stigma and unconscious bias. Day-to-day policies also feel outdated. The dress code is strictly “business smart” in theory but inconsistently enforced in practice, leaving employees open to senior staff’s mixed standards (“business casual” is the standard in most tech companies). Hybrid work and general flexibility are positioned as perks that must be earned, which suggests a lack of trust in staff to manage their work. Refusing to allow people on probation to work from home when unwell but capable, either burning a sick day or showing up contagious, feels dangerously short-sighted. All this, the long probation, rigid 9-5:30 hours, no TOIL, reinforces a culture that values presenteeism over output. With a few modern updates, life here could be much more reasonable. People Services (HR) normally responds to these reviews with a few paragraphs. These usually offer no substantive discourse and appear as an insecure attempt to defend Informed’s image. I invite whoever has been forced to write the next response - whether to this review or any other - to respond sincerely to the points within, and to feedback that the comments here so far have hurt the perception of Informed far more than they have improved it. This kind of workplace clearly doesn’t work for me; I don’t believe inflexibility provides any advantages. Obviously, the people making the decisions at Informed believe it has some benefit. I would ask those people to consider the burden it places on their colleagues and employees to fulfil this lifestyle. Work shouldn’t be the focal point of life, and if that’s the culture you’re looking for, Informed Solutions is a better fit for you than for me.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re sorry that your experience at Informed did not meet your expectations and that you found aspects of our culture and ways of working challenging to adapt to. We appreciate your recognition of the people you worked alongside – we’re proud of the sense of community and collaboration that our colleagues consistently highlight as one of the best parts of working here. We take all feedback seriously and continually review our policies and working environment to ensure they are fair, inclusive, and work well for everyone. Each year, our people take part in an independent and anonymous Great Place to Work survey, and our most recent results were especially positive - 99% of colleagues said there is a strong sense of community, 98% felt we promote inclusive behaviour and discourage discrimination, and 94% agreed that people are treated equally. We know that balancing flexibility, wellbeing, and fairness across a diverse workforce takes constant attention, and our approach aims to ensure consistency and equity for all colleagues, whether new starters or long-tenured team members. Informed has an open, visible, and approachable leadership team, with regular all-staff ShoutOuts led by our UK CEO and senior colleagues to keep everyone connected and engaged with our progress and plans, whilst also celebrating the achievements of our people. We also recognise that working preferences vary, and while many of our people, especially early in their careers, value time spent collaborating in person, we continue to provide flexibility through our hybrid model. We’re sorry that this didn’t suit your personal working style and appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Any additional feedback would be gratefully received, and if you’d like to continue the conversation feel free to reach out to me at PeopleServices@informed.com, Natalie Dunn, HR Manager. We wish you the best of luck in your future career.

Pros

The building is a lovely building One or two genuinely nice people

Cons

Even after being forced out in a deliberate and humiliating manner I still suffer from nightmares today. it's clear to see that the positive reviews are written by the CEO after seeing the negative ones. This is her style. I remember her reaction when she sent out the staff survey and was angry that people told the truth about what they thought of the company. You could not complete the staff employment survey anonymously, which gave her power. For me she felt threatened by young women and and if you were a female with children, your days were numbered. I dreaded any emails coming from the CEO. Imagine sitting at your desk, heart beating, stressed out as soon as received an email, fearful of of ridicule or criticism. and certain members of staff looked down on me because of my race and working class background. If you dare to speak out, you will suddenly find yourself being monitored for mistakes and then labelled as performing poorly and then put under investigation. The year I was there the CEO sacked 5 people on the spot, who were then thrown off the premises. The CEO would often rant at you, should you do something human, like make a mistake. At the time I was there the CEO was also HR. i spent days crying, miserable and alone. Even though it was years ago, the hurt and pain still remains, how the CEO and a particular employee nearly destroyed my life, In this company you will never get a second chance if you struggle or have any personal issues. They will tear you up.

We take all constructive feedback on board and are keen to look for ways to improve our workplace, so that we can attract and retain great talent. However, for this and similar reviews that are wholly untrue, hateful and trolling, our response is for the benefit of other readers. Given the very well publicised shortage of skills, it is obvious that people can chose the company that they work for and will quickly move onto another job, without much difficulty or drama, if unfairly treated. When we are required very occasionally to investigate and legitimately act on issues resulting from misconduct, we appreciate that this may result in retaliation and anonymous, negative posts on Glassdoor. In this particular case, we received from various concerned members of staff (not just one person, as is claimed in this review) reports of repeated instances of misconduct and also persisting under performance. These allegations were investigated and found to be true and significant. We understandably acted on this, doing so in a professional, respectful manner and as discretely as the challenging circumstances allowed because the person became verbally and physically abusive. We work hard to ensure that people enjoy working here and want to stay. We have a very multicultural and diverse workplace and foster a positive, inclusive environment where people feel respected, trusted, empowered and supported. The vast majority of people value and appreciate that, welcome the professional responsibility and opportunities offered, and can be entrusted with the flexibility and freedoms given to them. Informed consistently produces great work and wins so many prestigious awards because our people are motivated and inspired to learn, collaborate, problem solve and achieve together. On the company's website and Twitter feed, our people happily share their views and personal experiences about working at Informed, so please do look at those to help you form a balanced opinion. Pros

They didn't fire me during the COVID-19 crisis. I thought they might fire people as they need an excuse to do that.

Cons

The worth of an employee's effort is lost at a place like this as people are running around all day. When my workload became unbearable, I talked to my team leader to help reduce stress. Rather than helping me, he started listing the amount of work he has to do. It was quite disappointing.

Natalie Dunn, People Services As the responsible leader within our People Services team, I have full overview of the people joining and leaving the company. We’re a mid-sized business which means that we’re big enough to have the breadth of capabilities and resources to invest in upskilling, coaching and caring for our staff, whilst being small enough to get to know and treat our people as valued colleagues and individuals. In my view, this review is fake for two reasons. The first is based on the references to COVID and the timing that this person alleges to have left the company, because I know that no member of staff has been furloughed, made redundant or left for any COVID related reason. The second reason is that the company has diligently managed work priorities, individual workloads and staff wellbeing (using leading mental wellbeing triaging techniques) at daily team stand-ups and weekly meetings with their responsible director. Separately, People Services have called individual members of staff for relaxed, private chats whenever we sensed someone might be experiencing personal, home or work related problems. In these ways, we are checking-in with our people every single day to support their mental wellbeing and ensure they are coping with working remotely. No one has reported experiencing any significant issues, including any of our graduates and young professionals, and in particular there have been no problems with unsustainable workloads or people struggling with the work assigned to them. Since implementing full remote working, the company has gone to very considerable lengths to ensure that no one is isolated and it has never been left to the discretion of any individual team leader to make decisions about assigned priorities, workloads, personnel related issues or maintaining communications with team members. For all of the reasons outlined above, this post is in my opinion disingenuous. James Cruddas, Lead Technical Consultant Personally, I’m proud of the way that the company has come together as a whole to support each other and our clients through the challenges that COVID has bought us all. We’re a world class digital consultancy that has developed sophisticated digital work scheduling tools that enable all of our people to collaborate and support each other in an open, agile and adaptive way. These online tools have built-in safety features that alert us to and protect us from becoming overworked for lengthy periods of time. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when we are very busy – that’s when our daily team stand-ups and weekly director team catch-up meetings are used to re-balance the workloads, as well as renegotiate priorities and reschedule deadlines when necessary. Everyone is in the same boat, so both colleagues and clients have been very empathetic and supportive since COVID hit us. These online collaboration and work management tools, as well as the daily and weekly team catch-ups, enable us to plan, assign, monitor and report on peoples’ workloads and how they are coping. Alongside this, we’re offered a wide selection of excellent wellbeing initiatives e.g. guided meditations, fitness classes. We’re also assigned a buddy, so we can check-in with each other and there are a wide variety of personal development and wellbeing masterclasses on offer. These things were in place even before lockdown. Since lockdown, staff have been asked to suggest improvements and this resulted in a number of key wellbeing modules being quickly enhanced and refocused to better support full remote working and being delivered online. Everyone at Informed has valued and benefited from this support. If this post and review is genuine, I am very sorry you feel disappointed about your team leader and time at Informed. However, I cannot reconcile what you’ve said with the reality of 7+ years of working life at the company. We’re a medium sized business and most of us know each other even if we’ve not worked directly together, so it’s not like you can get completely lost within the company or nobody notices you, like you can within a huge corporation. For those reading this response that are thinking about joining us, I can personally tell you that you that my colleagues are great people and very smart, capable, supportive professionals. You can build a very rewarding career here, working at a growing international digital transformation consultancy that regularly wins leading industry awards. Please get in touch, and we can arrange for you to chat with me or any of the colleagues who actually work here. We’d be happy to explain what it’s like to experience Informed Solutions ‘in real life’.
