Pros

Stable job, Funding is good

Cons

Learning Korean is almost a MUST. Otherwise, you cannot play around with other Korean professors. The hierarchical relationship between senior and junior faculties is very important. Students are bad in English, and students do not like to find foreign faculties to be their advisor. You will waste a lot of time to teach students English, and correct their English writing for paper submission. Yet, the pressure to publish journals is high ! They evaluate researches by paper counting, not by impact and quality. Although getting funding is not difficult, schools and departments are greedy that they will still push a lot of pressure to ask faculties to get even more funding. Many professors are industrial project oriented (in other words, money oriented), instead of research oriented. They overload students to finish industrial projects. Some professors have their teaching materials the same for over 20 years. Students who took those courses are not learning the state-of-the-art materials. However, you are not allowed to open a new course with similar topic because you are taking away their students.
