Pros
Can be a good team atmosphere Plenty of hours (for hourly staff)
Cons
Having to deal with absolute obnoxious customers on a regular basis Poor upper management (area manager) tries to run your store for you Far too much gossiping and tale-telling (even at higher up levels) Staff retention and turn-over is appalling but what do you expect on minimum wage (makes your job extremely difficult as an RGM) No long term awards for employees that have been there a long time Recognition - the company plays this as a big part of the day to day, when in fact they do not act upon it. There are no FINANCIAL incentives which at the end of the day is all anyone ever wants, lets get real. Contracted 45 hours per week in management. Far too many times I was doing 50-60 hours and not being paid for it, nor appreciated. Expect to have your phone on hand at all times as it's in your contract, this goes back to my title 'work-life balance' there really is none.
