Pros

It is just okay; I have worked for other tech companies with a way better culture, management, and career growth, which is why it is OK. It is a remote-first company, so there can be flexibility in your work day that you may need; for exempt employees, there are unlimited vacation days. There are some wonderful contributors and teammates that are very talented. Some teams seem to have a great team culture within their department, but there is a significant disparity depending on the department's leaders for other teams.

Cons

Many silos make collaboration inefficient, and getting information is so difficult. You can go on a long easter egg hunt to find the correct information or person you need to speak with. You would think they would offer a bonus structure at this company stage, but they don't. For performance reviews, my manager told me that no one gets "exceeding, "even though they said my work was exceeding, but they were directed not to give that as a score. So it feels like a hamster wheel of delivering an exceeding performance but never being rewarded or promoted. They also constantly say there needs to be a business need for a promotion, yet there is no clear communication on what the business need is, and business needs are constantly changing. In some departments, there is a lot of misogyny, even at the very top, and no clear path to career growth and promotions; most of the company values are very male-dominated language: "Run through walls" or "Raise the bar." They preach that their company culture supports diversity but has no focus on DEI. All communication for company announcements or organizational changes is done through Slack, making it difficult to find any message because there are many Slack channels and messages to sort through. Their internal communication systems and processes are lacking.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you’ve had positive experiences with some of your teammates and appreciated the flexibility of our remote-first environment. We take your concerns seriously—especially regarding misogyny and lack of inclusion. We do not stand for a misogynistic environment and are committed to fostering a culture where everyone feels respected and supported. Pros

Remote work, decent benefits for some things. If you thrive in high stress/high pressure situations, with constant change & pivoting priorities, this place is for you.

Cons

Kin having the value “Operate lean; deliver more” should tell you pretty much everything you need to know about working at this company. There is little to no training yet the expectations to produce & perform are very high. Flexible/unlimited PTO is part of the benefits but if you feel like you can’t ever take time off because you’re so busy with work/deadlines, it’s not really a benefit. Not to mention, the time leading up to taking more than a few days off is SO stressful trying to get everything done or ready to be handed off that you question if it’s even worth it. Burnout is a very real thing at this company. They terminate people quite frequently here so you are often in fear of losing your job which adds another level of stress on top of everything else. While they are flexible, the work/life balance is poor. Working evenings & weekends is frequently necessary to meet deadlines.
