Pros
The LAPD attracts some of the best people in law enforcement. The LAPD is at or close to the cutting edge of law enforcement doctrine, technology, data analysis and trends. Just about every type of position or specialty that exists in the law enforcement community exists within the LAPD.
Cons
Police work has gotten tougher and less forgiving due to societal changes and technology. You have to conduct yourself assuming you are being video and audio recorded from the moment you arrive at work to the moment you leave, because you probably are.
