Pros

For me it was close to home and only worked here while I was transitioning into finding my true career passion.

Cons

The CEO, Robert Bland is a terrible people person. He underpays agents, working them to the bone in a very dreadful, dark call center environment. They would set very unrealistic goals and when anyone was close to making their quotas, he'd change the structure so that you didn't get paid out on it. Micromanaging to the core, all calls are recorded and every move monitored, to the point that they wouldn't allow you to get up to print. You'd have to ask to use the restroom. It was very depressing!!!!

Hi, I'm Bob Bland, CEO and founder of Lifequotes.com. I'm so sorry that working in our call center did not work out for you. As you know, we have very low employee turnover in our call center and it is not a high pressure environment. In fact, we don't even make cold calls. We service only inbound callers and those website visitors who have requested a advice. I'm not sure how dark our call center is given that we have low cubicle dividers and glass on 3 sides of our building so that everybody has an expansive view of the outside all the time. Our facility is bright and airy and all who visit comment on that. We have no agenda to underpay our call center agents, who are fed leads and never have to obtain them on their own. Starting pay here is $40,000 with full benefits and paid days off and many of our call center agents make $75,000 or more, which is nice pay for a 40-hour workweek. Several make over $100,000 per year, so the opportunity is right there every day. We always offer new call center reps the opportunity to sit next to high performing reps and I hope you took advantage of that. It's our 32nd year in business and we're growing. I'm not seeing the torture chamber you describe.

Cons

worked at LifeQuotes as a sales agent, and the biggest issue I experienced was the structure of the job itself. The commission targets were set at levels that felt nearly impossible to reach, especially given the kind of leads we were provided. Most of the leads I received were cold, not warm, and that made hitting quotas very unrealistic. The lack of reliable lead support combined with the pressure of commission-only expectations created an extremely difficult environment. This is just my personal experience, but I think it’s important for people considering this role to know that the challenges are built into how the company operates — it’s not about effort alone, but about the system you’re put into.
