Pros
The work culture at Linde is very good. There is very little politicking, and inter-departmental coordination is efficient and effective. Because of the relatively leaner structure of the organization, getting enough visibility and thus recognition is easier than other organizations where it is difficult to break through the clutter. This is also helped by the fact that the hierarchy is very flat; so there are essentially no glass ceilings.
Cons
The industrial gases is a slow growing industry at best. In most developed countries, this is a stagnant or declining industry, thereby limiting opportunities in career advancement and growth. Since the growth in revenues is modest, there is a lot of focus on cost containment; and that is usually a very bad thing for employees since one of the very first things that is sacrificed is employee development. Also, since the hierarchy is very flat, the career progression is relatively slow.
