Pros
- it was a very good place to work for a few month initially after their funding round - they had inclusive, employee friendly policies, tried to be transparent/democratic etc.. - total comp/flex benefits are good - remote first working
Cons
- chaos at the first sign of uncertainty as soon as silicon valley downturn/inflation - multiple restructures, shuffling between managers in a short period of time, some really problematic leader hires - not a clear direction for the product from the leadership - way too bureaucratic/unnecessarily heavy at the top for a startup - lavish staff off sites, leadership exec off sites while laying off 100s of employees - leadership started becoming more paranoid, multiple rounds of layoffs (some layoffs masked as "restructures" / "performance plans") - weird sudden shift of strategy to move (fire everyone in Aus & rehire people for their roles in the US) most of the tech team to the US while the founders and some senior leaders seem to continue to work from AUS
