Pros

Autonomy: If you work here, it's because you're believed to be skilled at what you do. With this comes trust and support. You will be given honest feedback, but not once have I experienced it from the approach of negative reinforcement. It is truly a team that wants to water its garden and grow together. Support: You can seek out help, advice, or a safe and comfortable person/space to talk to with anyone in the company, no matter the seniority or function of your role. Ownership: Decisions I make can affect the company in a significant way, and what I do matters. I've been "a cog in a wheel" and it's deeply satisfying to know I matter and that what I do is valuable to the company and to the people themselves Growth: Ultimately, what you do is going to be on a wider-reaching scale than the compartmentalization of a role function which happens in larger firms. Mistakes will be made, great ideas will be celebrated, but you actually have a chance to do both and with that, you grow quickly. Company Trajectory: Company just went through a Series B in May of 2021 (yesterday), the team itself is growing quickly, and the products have a popular and desirable use-case and a strong market. Leadership & Culture: I'm of the belief that how a company functions, how they treat one another, and how they treat the world begins from the top down. I can comfortably say I trust both the business acumen and the care for the humans behind it all that I've seen, and it reflects well in a culture that uplifts and that reminds you to live your life.

Cons

This is not something that bothers me personally, but having worked for extremely large companies before you tend to tap in to very established systems, heavily invested-in tools, and established ways of doing things. There's a DIY/builder/"working within uncertainty" element that will not be for everyone. There's not an answer for everything we've experienced or will experience, you might try out different tools/programs/clients to get things done until you find what works, and there won't always be a defined path or next step to your goals. I feel it's a normal part of working in a startup or in a team/space that gives you a lot of autonomy, but it can provide it's own challenges, certainly, though you'll likely thrive if you take pleasure in that.

Pros

Decent salary. Unlimited PTO. That’s about it.

Cons

Pay attention to the negative reviews. Success at this company is less about competence and more about performative enthusiasm. If you’re a LinkedIn cheerleader who agrees with whoever uses the most buzzwords, you’ll fit right in. There are sycophants galore. Genuine critical thinking is not rewarded and can actually work against you. The culture skews heavily toward a bro culture dynamic that feels frozen somewhere around 2013 SF/Silicon Valley. If that’s not your thing, expect to feel like an outsider regardless of your output. Strategically, leadership chases every industry trend rather than committing to a coherent direction. The result is a constant feeling of playing catch up with competitors instead of differentiating. Priorities shift frequently and institutional follow through is weak. Leadership clings to the “scrappy startup” identity long past the point it was credible. That framing is just cover for poor process, chronic disorganization, and an allergy to accountability.
