Pros
Close to home, could work then get groceries
Cons
Not great pay, benefits were so-so. I was full-time and worked a lot of overtime. Loblaws didn’t like that, so head office moved me down to part-time TWICE so that they wouldn’t have to pay me as much. They chronically cut staff and expected the remaining employees to pick up the slack so that they could put more money into their pockets. I often did the work of 2 people and for crappy pay. Employees were seen as cannon fodder for the most part. I stayed on as casual relief for a few months after I left and they were very quick to delete my work email and my portal information then they let me go with almost no warning — I found out via email. I had to wait for my last T4 to come in the mail because they were late reporting it to the CRA. Had to file my taxes twice because I forgot that I worked for the first week of January.
