Pros

When I first came to LocalVox the company came across as being stuck a bit of a rut, which seemed to be due to previous employees that had come into the company and did not want to work. That has now changed, and most of those employees have moved on to other jobs outside of LocalVox, realizing this was a career where you needed to actually try to succeed in helping out small businesses. Personally, I have been working for LocalVox for 8 months and could not be happier with where I am. The supervisors are experienced, knowledgeable, friendly and genuinely care about my career goals, whether in the company or not. LocalVox offers insights into digital marketing that I had not previously experienced at past jobs, and really takes the time to train each individual that starts with the company. Plus, there is so much opportunity for growth within. I would recommend serious consideration for a job with LocalVox to anyone who is offered. You won't regret it, and if you work hard, then you will be rewarded.

Cons

The only con would be where the company was when I first started, but like I said, in the pros, that has already changed drastically.

Pros

The LocalVox team is a terrific company to work with. They are, in no particular order: attentive to details; focused on providing positive experiences for both the client and the freelancer; passionate about what they do; and readily available to field questions, comments, and concerns. Pay rate is among the most competitive in the industry, and they appreciate and reward a job well done. Simply put, working with LocalVox is a pleasure.

Cons

I have encountered no drawbacks in working with this company.

Pros

I currently freelance for LocalVox's editorial department and am very happy with the arrangement. They don't micromanage their writers and they consistently give me a huge volume of work with very reasonable turnaround times. The pieces are short so if you're fast, efficient, and competent it's a great gig. Management seems approachable and generally level-headed. Unlike another reviewer I've found them to be very communicative about new policies or expectations. I've never had an issue with them and it's a real treat that I don't have to personally deal with clients. I do other freelance work as well, but it's nice to know that I have a chunk of consistent work coming in from one source. I'd write for them exclusively if I could afford it!

Cons

The only issue with LocalVox is the rate, which is why I only give them 4 stars. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a lot of writer turnover because they expect extremely high caliber writing for a relatively low rate. You have to be a fast writer to make a good hourly wage doing this kind of work. I understand starting writers at a low rate, but there does not appear to be any system for advancement or higher earning. It's a flat rate scenario, which is outlined in the contract. It just seems that if they want to keep their best writers working for them long-term they might provide potential for an increased rate or a bonus system of some kind.
