Pros

During my time working as a freelance contractor for Love to Ride, I feel I have experienced the perfect balance of support and trust. As I have always worked remotely in this role, my manager checks in regularly but also gives me the creative freedom to try new approaches and ideas. As an organisation, Love to Ride is open to learning and change which I really appreciate. They are also a very inclusive employer who have been incredibly accommodating of my health conditions and have allowed me to work flexibly. I am very grateful to work for an organisation which strives to constantly adapt and innovate.

Cons

Through no fault of Love to Ride, renewing my contract has been challenging due to delays in funding from local authorities. This has resulted in some gaps in delivery but Love to Ride always kept me in the loop when this happened and made sure to start the conversations about continuing my contract early.

Pros

I enjoyed my time working to encourage more people to cycle. I had good support from the team in Bristol. Felt very on purpose for me personally (cycling being an activity that checks health, sustainability and mental well-being boxes). I had quite a bit of freedom in my role to develop and implement a plan to engage businesses and people locally. There was also good guidance (documents and weekly calls) sharing what's worked for other people who'd done the same role in another location.

Cons

This was only a short term contract role as a Local Project Manager for one of Love to Ride's projects. I would have ideally liked it to have been a full-time permanent role.

Pros

Flexible working. Great colleagues (mostly) Autonomous working. Interesting work.

Cons

Impulsive CEO is happy to make redundancies fast to please his board of advisors, despite the hard work and passion you give. Poor salaries, not in line with similar industry roles. Poor benefits package. Commission structure still not in place after almost 2 years. Lack of development opportunities.
