Pros

Endless Opportunity, Lots of Management Positions constantly opening providing room for advancement, and really unique, interesting technology. A public company with a reliable business model and good job security.

Cons

If you interpret the above as pros, this job is for you. Lumentum's finance dep't had a pretty soul-sucking culture and expected you to work until past 7 Pm almost nightly without providing any extra overtime pay, dinner, snacks or any other incentives. During my experience, this stemmed from the upper management culture and their unrealistic expectations. Don't expect any formal training or advice, they will simply throw you to the fire and expect you to learn. When I started my role, I was told I would have 5 months to shadow the team to learn internal processes and key tasks - this quickly turned into two weeks, until they eventually placed all quarter end tasks on me with little to no training. Often times employees are setup to fail and management sees this as simply a challenge to put in front of you and watch you attempt. Management was also dishonest with me while I was there. I attempted to switch teams, management promised me a position that did not exist. They openly lied to me about offering a different role that would promote my standing in the finance department just to get me to stay a little longer.

Pros

Great technology and colleagues. New CEO is driving high performance culture

Cons

Extremely political workplace. Team is led by an insecure leader who lacks vision for the company and her team. Everyone is set up for failure. Team is not empowered to succeed.
