I worked at Lumentum Operations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The colleagues and coworkers are all very nice. Many year money burning and technology accumulations are very good for employee knowledge and experience improvement.

    Cons

The company, especially management , doesn't appreciate employee hard working. If the projects or products are not going well, they just found the scapegoat to blame and layoff them, doesn't care the detail reasons behind.

I have been working at Lumentum Operations full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting product mix. Busy and feels like there's a future with fab investment compared with the old JDSU days. The work can be a bit stressful, but people are very amicable.

    Cons

Varied product mix can make organization and planning difficult and chaotic.

I worked at Lumentum Operations full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had the opportunity to intern with Lumentum over the summer. I really enjoyed my project, the other interns, and the very relaxed environment. My manager was very professional and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to me. The entire intern program was run by another intern, so it’s relatively intern-centric.

    Cons

There is a HUGE disconnect between the upper management that administers and oversees the intern program. The management team didn’t really want to interact with us. Another example of the disconnect is that there were times when “new college grads” would join us at intern events but the majority of them were PhD students who are in senior positions. In addition, the company is not transparent on their performance review and deciding who to hire. The company only hires interns into direct engineering positions.

    Advice to Management

Incredibly unfair to have a summer internship program but not want to hire any of them.

I have been working at Lumentum Operations full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smart and talented people working in the middle management level. Some interesting technology creates good potential, decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

Totally dysfunctional executive management, too many reorganization, never a clear direction. So here is the math...within 1 year, my groups' VP resigned when the new SVP was on board for 3 months. The SVP brought in another SVP, then kick the same person out within 6 months. Then they let go the director the next month...another Sr Director decided to quit on his own after 20+ years in this company. Never a clear communication path, never had a BU all hand meeting , never even the willingness to listen.

    Advice to Management

People are just a number in your eyes, but don't forget, any solid company is built from the ground. If you can hire and Let go people that easy just to please the street, you will not go too far.
