Pros

Love working with the students, and great colleagues. MIT is a cool community. Decent salary for masters level clinicians in Boston, but could be more competitive.

Cons

Employee experience varies greatly depending on the manager. The culture at MIT Health/SMHC can be a good fit for some, but there are notable concerns about leadership. In particular, leadership often appears disingenuous, especially behind closed doors, and there tends to be a pattern of singling out certain employees in ways that feel targeted or even bullying.

Pros

High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

Cons

Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
