Pros
There are so many "Teaching English Online" opportunities. However, in my opinion, this appears to be one of the best, if not the absolute best I have had contact with. While I was interviewing with a few companies and later offered jobs by them, I chose to work for Magic Ears solely based on the person who interviewed me. He later turned out to be one of my supervisors and I couldn't be happier that I get to interact with him on a daily basis. Honestly this is a company that made me wish I were in a 9-5 position in an office filled with the full time employees. They really do work 12 hour days to make Magic Ears the best company that they can. You can tell that every single person working for them believes in what they are doing! They are uplifting, kind, thoughtful, helpful, hard working, and truly care about you and your personal life. I love working in such a positive environment, surrounded (metaphorically and technologically) by wonderful humans! Whenever an error or problem may occur, the tech team has it solved in a matter of minutes, and the supervisors guide you to applying the solution instantly! The Supervisors give excellent feedback of your teaching and are always watching for ways for you to improve your teaching. Because Magic Ears is a newer company, they are constantly growing. They are always happy to take feedback to make everything better, whether that be for the teaching platform, online teaching portal, power points, new class styles, applying, and even in how we look over our payslips. This is not a huge company already set in their ways. They are always innovating and updating, and want your help to do so! The students are so darling! Let's be real, isn't this why everyone wants this job?! Who doesn't want to spend time with adorable Chinese children! They are really well behaved and are always easy to redirect into behaving if they begin to stray. However, don't fear, the platform is built to keep the class orderly if a rare student does become unruly. As others have said, you must be patient. In the beginning levels, the students have zero English experience. It can be scary learning a new language. You MUST be animated and use body language to help teach the new English words! TPR and TPRS are very applicable styles. As a teacher, you need to be animated, happy, and excited! If you progress into demo lessons, and even becoming a teacher with Magic Ears, this is something you can't forget: teaching online is hard, the hours aren't always something people are used to, and keeping your energy high isn't something that comes naturally to most! In order to succeed in this job, you must never forget that your energy drives the class. This is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had the pleasure of having! And the employees are some of the best humans I have had the pleasure of knowing!
Cons
I would love for Magic Ears to have more hours available to teach.
