Pros

The individual field offices who work very hard to support the populations they serve, despite lack of support from the corporate office

Cons

Decisions, policies and procedures coming from the corporate office demonstrate clear ignorance to the business challenges of the field offices. Posting a job is like an act of congress and you are forced to post inaccurate job postings, resulting in difficulty with filling positions. You are forced to go through the corporate office for everything and adding insult to injury, they never respond to your inqueries or you go round in circles with them because they live in such a bubble and don't know or care what your office needs to do business. Corporate staff treats field staff like they are idiots. I could go on.

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
