Pros

Co-workers are fun and interesting; age diverse; great ideas from employees, management seems interested

Cons

extremely difficult clients, high travel, not well compensated for the stress of the job, high lay offs when things get tough, slow development cycle of software; ideas given do not seem to be implemented; management can be micro-managers when projects go south; laptops are old and not being replaced quickly, development teams should spend time out at client sites to try to understand demands from clients, needs standardization in documentation and retention repositories, Execs should spend time at the client sites and be more involved to ensure the politics are decent with the clients to ensure success of the projects

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
