Pros
One of the best places to get your feet wet in many disciplines with regards to software engineering, including computer vision, machine learning, API development and microservices. There are always unique problems to solve which keeps you engaged. Comp and benefits are first rate. You are typically working with the best and the brightest which motivates you to do better. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Mitek and would probably not trade the experience for anything else. The best company out of 4 that I have worked for in San Diego in the past 14 years.
Cons
Lack of focus is probably Mitek's achilles' heel in the identity verification space. Multiple legacy platforms which need attention and multiple acquisitions coupled with lack of clear direction spread resources thin. Management always paints a rosy picture of the business but when the first round of layoffs occurred in the beginning of 2022, it was clear there were problems but I chose to be positive about it. Unfortunately I did not make the second round later in the year.
