Pros

1. Talent v/s role: I joined Multunus as a Business Analyst. Later during the training we discovered that my talent wasn't in Business Analysis but was in People and Culture. Now, I neither had a formal “HR” degree nor experience in the field of People and Culture, but I just had a desire to spread happiness. The faith that the management [quote/unquote] had on me isn't something that you can see everywhere. Now, I am provided with the opportunity, resources and encouragement in learning about science behind happiness and how to improve employee engagement [trust me, employee engagement is more than just bean bags and unlimited snacks at the snack bar]. 2. A strong set of values and principles: Whatever we do at Multunus adheres to the values and principles that are put in place. 3. High quality: One can see premium quality in anything that we do, which is not just limited to the products that we build for the Customers. And, we just don't look at the quality of the products that we build, but are very choosy about the kind of customers that we work with. 4. Open Salary System: Autonomy and transparency has been moved to the next level. Now, not only our salaries are out for everyone to see but also, it is an autonomous system to decide our own compensation. Of course, we have a few guidelines. But again, we have the autonomy to follow those guidelines. 4. Purchase systems: The budgets for purchases are all in the open. We have developed our own product to manage the purchases. 5. Learning and growth: Not only did a lot about people, process, quality… I am also taking a lot of these learnings back into my personal life.

Cons

1. The expectation is very high from each and everyone and it leads to stress every now and then. Multunus is on it’s way to improve this, but the progress is quite slow. 2. People find it very hard to pronounce the name very often. As funny as it sounds, it becomes frustrating more often than not, getting people to pronounce the name Multunus! 3. Ergonomics is not great. 4. Anger management in situations needs improvement. 5. Taking leaves for a long period of time becomes difficult.

Pros

1. The company believes in "Continuous Improvement" where we try to make small improvements to our work every single day. This matches with my personal belief as well. 2. We do not have those scary "appraisals" instead we have only salary revisions. 3. All of us are very passionate in what we do. That is the reason, I have personally learnt a lot from others though there is still a looong way to go. 4. The team and the management encourages and helps us to blog and also speak in conferences. 5. We are being noticed and appreciated even for a small contribution that we make to our project or to the company 6. We have anytime snack bar which is always full. Anytime you can have snacks and best part no restrictions at all :-) And the best part is that we have some healthy snacks too. 7. We have loads of fun activities during celebrations of anniversaries, success parties, birthdays, team dinners, team outings and during our weekly brownbags. One of my favourite is Hush Hush Thank you :-) where you secretly thank any member at Multunus. 8. What I can't wait for are the fireside chats - where successful people have an interactive session with us face to face. It is awesome when they talk about their experiences :-)

Cons

While we are being noticed for our smallest of contribution, we are also under continuous pressure of not making any mistake as that will also be noticed quickly.

Pros

After my MBA I had worked for 2 of the big 4 Indian IT outsourcing companies and I could see my learning stagnating. Hence, I decided to join a company with strong fundamentals like a great engineering culture, a great people culture and a road-not-taken-approach to the software services business. Quality and process are the mantra in Multunus and the people almost never cut corners. The office culture is open and there is no topic that can't be discussed. The leadership at Multunus is working on a plan to move to a model where an employee can spend 20% of the time working on personal projects. There is encouragement to actively engage with and contribute to the community through participation in technology conferences and workshops. It was a welcome change to be in a team where almost no one uses a Windows computer. Mac OS X and Linux and the platforms of choice. I preferred BYOD and could finally end my windows-by-the-day-and-mac-by-the-night existence :D

Cons

The daily commute to the office is a challenge for me. I spend more than 2 hours on the road which I am sure could be spent better if the office was a tad more conveniently located.
