Pros
Ease of relaxed environment, opportunities to excel and advance, performance recognition, excellent compensation for entry level position, private offices (not cubicles that are shared), funding of training and travel/hotel per each semester with minimal restrictions, relaxed schedule, not rigid with policies that are intended for general clerical Office staff seen in secretarial units. This is less restrictive than heard about in other units.
Cons
High number of "managers" in a field that requires independent and responsible employees managing themselves. Also, management do not share in work load, have extreme amount of downtime, and offer absolutely no leadership for the unit employees. Have observed targeting of employees for dismissal with no basis which prevents any possibility of building trust. When you have to avoid interactions with management, moral in the workplace takes a hit. Not a professional work environment without traditional leaders. This makes the workplace void of any levels above mediocre. If you are accustomed to great feats and accomplishments in your work, this job will be difficult because those are somehow perceived as a sort of threat and not desired or allowed. Makes no sense, so cannot explain beyond this. Advice: if already living in the area, good job to have but do not move here for it. Job security does not exist at this company
