Pros
Very flexible working hours as long as you can finish the assignment or project on time. Numerous new stuffs can be learned, skills can be built up.
Cons
Right now it is very difficult for most of groups to get well funded. Research may not be able to focus on one direction. Lots of jobs need to be done to fight for the funding.
