      Pros

      I've joined with the feeling that the company has an awesome culture and that they've been doing remote work the right way, with freedom, ownership, and activities to amplify the sense of belonging (slack as a virtual office and regular opportunities to meet up IRL during workstations and company retreats). Everyone at Primer is on a mission to really grow a product that will disrupt an industry. Sounds like a cliché, commonplace, but: the People. I've met some of the most interesting people at Primer. Freedom to own your work but also places a strong emphasis on collaboration and knowledge sharing. The product.

      Cons

      Bad management is ruining the company's culture and probably the business; Leadership handled the layoff of almost 90 people (50% of the company) pretty badly, showcasing a lack of management knowledge, consideration and overall disinterest for their employees - not replying to emails, not following up on the referral they said they would do - #redwedding style; There's a feeling of unhappiness around everyone who"survived" the 50% cut, but the overall conversation about bad management keeps pretty much alive.

Whilst we agree our culture is truly unique, at Primer innovation is at the heart of everything we do and that’s not limited to just our product - we are committed to continuously improving our management practices and ensuring that the well-being and needs of our employees are a top priority, past and present. We are extremely grateful to you and other employees who unfortunately had to leave us recently (we're far from the numbers you're mentioning though) and did everything within our power to support them in their onward journeys, including generous leaving packages, equipment and ongoing professional mental health support.       Pros

      This could have been a cool company. It's a smart product, thoguh not as innovative and unqiue as the founders think it is. Things that were advertised when I was hired like putting their people first, valuing differing opinions and new ideas, were a farce.

      Cons

      One of the Founders talks so condescendingly to his employees even publicly on slack that it’s alarming. Everyone is afraid to stand up to him so managers, and directors are all just yes men. Maybe the company wouldn’t be going down the tubes if they had listened to employees who were boots on the ground everyday and brought in more unique experiences than one entitled over-educated and pompous Frenchman. Micromanaging was EXCESSIVE at this company, if you don’t trust your employees, what are you doing?
