Pros

There were no benefits to working here!

Cons

Would NEVER recommend this company! This company is in a league of its own and all for the wrong reasons….. Having directly experienced the way this company is run, I would never recommend to anyone, especially those who value their integrity, self-respect, family time, health and overall wellbeing. Unless you are one of the senior management team who are the “selected few” who are respected by the Directors then you are nothing more than a money maker. Even those select few in the inner circle would be dumped the minute they were deemed of no further use. The recruitment process is a string of lies from the minute you speak to the Recruitment Team, when they “sell you” what an amazing family run business Protect Line are. Although that being said they actually love the fact that they are also known as a version of the Wolf of Wall Street. I’m really not sure that is something to be proud of. They will say anything to get you in the door and get your name on their recruitment target board. Once you’ve joined you will be lucky if they even remember your name and certainly don’t expect them to even make eye contact with you or trouble themselves to enter into a conversation with you. They are far too busy trying to impress the Directors and have already moved on to more unsuspecting victims that they are trying to get through the door to make the Directors more cash!! Life Insurance is such a valuable product that protects your loved ones and therefore needs to be sold with integrity and that is certainly what most of the Advisors would love to be able to do, however this is not acceptable as it wouldn’t make the company enough money. I have never worked for a company where you are expected to work over 45 hours a week at your desk and tied to the phone. Even asking for 30 minutes early finish for a Doctor’s appointment is certainly not approved or tolerated. This company is unfortunately unlike any other company I have ever worked for or ever wish to work for in the future. I had to learn the hard way! Recruitment: learn to be honest and show some integrity to your candidates. We are not just names on a board to impress your Director. You have shown yourselves to be insincere and all about your status as the “Directors best friend” rather than genuinely wanting a career in recruitment. Senior Management: take a long look at yourselves and make sure you honestly believe you are doing the right thing by your employees. Put yourselves in their shoes and also think how your family would feel if you were being treated that way

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It has taken some time to come back to it due to the content and nature of your complaints. They are so contrasting to other reviews that we receive and to the feedback we get internally. Due to the nature of the comments that were directed at an individual, if we are totally truthful, at first we tried to get it taken down. However, that didn’t feel right to us. We believed that this wasn’t the view of the wider business but we wanted to check! It has been very important to us to take your comments and both share it internally and, as I stated I would earlier in the year, conduct a thorough anonymous survey to secure staff's opinion's, based specifically on that statements you have made. Whilst we are disappointed that you feel the way you do, having reviewed the responses of our own employees we are delighted to discover that your feelings are not shared by our wider Protect Line team. . As an example; when asked 98% of our employees said that they felt cared for by Protect Line. All of our employees said that they felt that ,as a business, our foundations are ethical and whilst you can’t always stop people bending rules, we do have the best interest of our customers at heart and we work hard to stop the bad behaviours of the minority. You stated that at the recruitment stage, we “sell” our roles. When asked, 98% of our employees who have come through the recruitment process said that the role was NOT sold to them, in fact they talked about what a great journey it was and how refreshing it is to have passionate, honest and relatable conversation at interview. Our employees also , on the whole, feel differently to you, with 86% of them happy to recommend friends or family. We were also quite surprised by your comment in regards to being able to make Doctors’ appointments. So we asked our employees if they had ever been stopped from going to the doctors – 96% said no! Thankfully, 90% of employees also disagree with your feeling about simply being “money makers” and 99% of employees said that they felt that they could work with integrity and in an ethical manner. I am sorry that your experience with the Senior Management Team was that they also weren’t thinking about the employees. When asked, the staff used words like “Brilliant”, “hard working” , “caring”,” professional;” “approachable” with the only request really being that our SMT get more time to spend on the floors, which we will make every effort to do. We also took the opportunity to ask how our employees feel about the owners / Directors of the business and the responses were that 97% felt respected by the Directors. We even addressed the more personal commentary in respect of our Recruitment Manager and her friendship with me. It made us think, and we certainly didn’t want the friendship to be a negative but were equally prepared to address it if it was. With people being given the freedom and anonymity to respond with free text, the overwhelming response was that it was not seen as a problem and in fact thought it odd that we would even mention it. Most could see that by virtue of the great atmosphere we have here and how closely people work together, that it is no surprise that fabulous relationships and friendships are formed. We are of course sorry that you did not view it that way. Our recruitment process, culture and working environment continues to get great feedback, every day. We are all here working incredibly hard to ensure that we achieve our company mission of protecting as many UK families as possible. Whilst the overwhelming responses were that people feel that they can work ethically here we are very aware that there are pockets in the business that can be exposed to poor behaviour by the minority and open to manipulation if not managed closely. We are continuously working on a programme of activity, as most businesses do, to address this and it remains a priority for us. Thankfully with an ever growing loyal customer base and early loss of staff reducing, we feel that we must be getting something right. I do want to thank you though. Going through the survey and really opening up to staff to collaborate the views of the business has been a great exercise and one that we will continue into our future.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We're pleased to hear that you felt our pay and earning potential were positive aspects of your role. As a sales organisation, we understand that targets can feel demanding at times, but they are designed to be both achievable and realistic. Supporting our people to be successful is really important to us, which is why we continue to invest in training, coaching and development, and have introduced staggered targets for new starters to help them build confidence and settle into their role. We're also sorry to hear that you felt the working hours weren't the greatest. While it's difficult to know the specifics of your experience, we have made a conscious effort over recent years to review our working patterns and improve work-life balance. This has included reducing the finish time of our standard contracts, alongside offering part-time and flexible working options wherever possible. Some colleagues do choose to work beyond their contracted hours, whether that's to support a customer or maximise their earning potential, but this is very much a personal choice. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Feedback like this helps us continue to improve, and we wish you every success in the future.

Pros

Okay salary, they train well, if you're not in sales you'll probably like working here

Cons

If you are in sales find somewhere else, it's miserable. As soon as you leave training, it become apparent how poor the job is and the sales management that work there. Major power trips and fakeness, couldn't leave soon enough. They have a staff turnover that would make your eyes water

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We’re really pleased to hear that you felt supported during training and found the salary and training opportunities positive. At the same time, we’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience in a sales role didn’t meet your expectations. We take feedback around management approach, transparency, and environment very seriously. Sales roles can be fast paced and high pressure, and creating a culture that feels genuine, supportive, and fair is something we continually strive for. You’ve mentioned turnover, which is something we’re open about as a business. As a sales led organisation with a relatively early career demographic, we do expect a degree of natural movement, particularly in roles that suit people for a certain stage of their career. Our focus has always been on providing strong training, development, and progression during someone’s time with us - whether that leads to progression internally or prepares them for their next step with greater skills and experience than when they joined. We’re also proud that many of our sales executives and leaders have been with us for over 10 years, and our overall attrition has been trending in the right direction year on year. We really appreciate you sharing your honest perspective. If you’d be open to discussing your experience in more detail or offering specific suggestions, we’d genuinely welcome that conversation. We wish you all the very best in your next role.
