Pros
The Zeus team in Cambridge did so much right and was a credit to itself over so many years under several owners. That it still held together for so long after the Pulse Secure acquisition was a testament to its great strength and culture.
Cons
Shortage of technical competence at head office. Deliberate attempts to worsen work/life balance at the cost of long-term employee health and career sustainability. Applauding the perpetrators of crunch culture. Private equity looking to cash out at any cost. Questionable attitudes to software quality. Payroll and benefits support functions crippled by outsourcing. Poor HR / "Talent Success" performance. Worse than zero career progression available. Cramped and stuffy office (pre-pandemic). It was just a bit rubbish all around, really, and as software engineers, we have options. It's sad to leave friends behind, but there's no need to work like this and for people like those.
