No power but a whole lot of responsibility, with some insincere people in authority. - PhD Student QUT Employee Review

Pros

Proximity to the city, has a good name if you study in a technical area (i.e. if you work internationally, engineers who haven't heard of any of Queensland's universities might assume it's better than UQ).

Cons

Extremely sluggish reimbursements, with uncooperative technical and administrative staff who take constructive criticism personally. Facilities reflect an attitude of style over substance. A lot of self-promoting types have risen to high positions and they don't seem to have much interest in improving the institution.

Pros

Great academic staff and students. Pods of real innovation that are world class.

Cons

Admin staff make life difficult and what can go wrong with each process will go wrong. Very soul destroying to have to battle endlessly just to get the most basic tasks approved.
