Good school in general but should really consider the negatives - Teacher Quick Learning Employee Review

Pros

It has a good salary, better than average. You normally make between 16000 and 24000 per month(have in mind that half of that is your real salary the rest consists of bonuses) It's a very good school if your intention is to significantly improve your English language and make some working experience because they will hire anyone as long as he/she can bear their schedules and norms. The working environment depends completely on the director and teachers around you. You don't really have to prepare your classes' activities because they have everything in place which can be something good or bad depending on the person. Having said that you do have to follow specific activities they have in manuals for the class. (Step by step) As soon as you enter you will have the opportunity to earn as much as any other teacher in the school. It's not a hierarchical thing in which you have to have been working more time than the others to have more groups. They give you plenty of groups right away.

Cons

It's is a good school in general but there's so many cons that you do have to consider if you want to work there. I would not recommend it to anyone in the long term because there's no growth opportunity unless you want to be the director of the school which I don't find convenient because their salaries are not much higher than the teachers'. You will have to do many things that do not correspond to the tasks of an average teacher. If your students miss class you will have to call them; when time comes to pay the next course you would have to call them as well to remind them of the payment ( remember you would have dozens of students) if you don't do these activities your director has the right to fire you. The manuals of the class must be followed step by step. But they take that to the extreme, so if you don't follow steps as simple as "make the student stand up" they may reduce your grades as a teacher and if you get under the minimum grade (90) they will not give you some of your bonuses. Sometimes you have to teach more than 9 hours per day and if the manual doesn't say that you can sit then you cannot sit. It sounds incredible, but you can't sit when you want to. No single school has a table or chair for the teacher. And sometimes you end up standing for more than eight or nine hours per day, which is exhausting. If you choose to sit anyway and they see you, they will take away all your bonuses which makes up half your salary. They don't have halftime positions you have to work from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. technically you have 4 free hours (from 12 to 4) to do what you want. The problem is that many times you will have obligatory meetings that will consume that free time completely or at least half of it. (And they are unpaid) Apart from that if you go to a branch where there are many private students they can choose the scheduled of their classes as they please. So they can also choose their schedules at the time of your leisure time and you are obliged do teach those classes. So you may end up with 2 free hours to do what you want. Sometimes I was forced to teach classes at 6 a.m. and they made me open the school at 5:50 am for a student that would not even give me good commissions. Sometimes I was forced to teach students until 10 p.m. as well. Your time is not yours whatsoever it's theirs. The perks are non existent. You don't have social security. I've heard horror stories from teachers that were pregnant. And they had to teach one or two days prior to their deliveries. An even so the school would not give them the bonuses and would reduce their salaries. Because they were "absent from work"
