Pros

Competitive salary, great employee benefits, flexible work options and opportunity to work with very talented individuals (when they stay).

Cons

Decisions are made based on personal opinion. You can be the best in your field and have all the data and insights in the world to support a decision/strategy/suggestion AND have others agree with you but you will get knocked back because someone higher up wants it a particular way One department basically runs as a separate business that can do whatever they want and even though this has been brought up with people and culture nothing changes or improves with it Agile for this business means do a bunch of random activities in a very short timeframe without a plan in place to support them and call it continuous improvement No opportunity for career progression Bullying culture is constantly covered up by People and Culture, who will tell you to just change your perspective and access therapy...

Pros

RACV pays well, offers generous employee discounts across its insurance and leisure products, and is financially stable with a genuine respect for work-life balance. As with most organisations, your experience will ultimately hinge on your division leader and direct manager. The majority of senior leaders are smart, respectful, and genuinely care about their teams — though a minority will put their own ambitions ahead of the people they're supposed to serve.

Cons

Like many large organisations, RACV's scale comes with real constraints. High overheads, accumulated tech debt, and rooms full of 50+ stakeholders can make innovation feel like swimming upstream. Decision-making is slow, and with senior leaders holding strong opinions, employees can find it easier to follow orders than fight for new ideas. Resources naturally flow toward the top organisational priorities — which means some parts of the business are left to make do with less.
