Pros

-Some of the admin and animal care staff are nice. -Animals are lovely.

Cons

-Poor management - They offered me hybrid working and then went back on it. -Poor conflict resolution abilities- management (the CEO at RSPCA Sheffield) seems to think the best way to deal with conflict is to have employees (managers) shout at eachother for as long as it takes. This is incredibly stressful for everyone involved and very unprofessional. - New managers are not enabled as the staff who have been there the longest are given the most power and listened to the most despite being less qualified. - Most of the staff (including management) just have college qualifications yet will lecture more qualified and more experienced staff regarding the animals. -Poor pay considering job role.

Pros

I had a great supervisor, Sally, who ran a tight ship but was also a friendly and helpful mentor and didn't get angry when I made mistakes as I was starting out. I got some experience stocking the shelves, interacting with a variety of customers, and learning the value of merchandise. There's also some opportunities to get cool books, etc. for low prices, especially if no one else wants them.

Cons

I worked as a volunteer, since it's a charity shop, so obviously I didn't get paid. In addition, customers will sometimes have strong body odor, and like any customer service job, you just have to grin and bear it.
