Pros
Good flexibility, the people in some teams are really lovely. A lot of camaraderie (but that’s because things are so bad) A good place to start your career, but don’t stay for too long.
Cons
A lot. Here’s a partial list; - Profound capability gaps in corporate (many would struggle to succeed in an equivalent role elsewhere) - Micromanagement by senior management - Purposeful under-resourcing - “Cost-out” culture, often leading to outcomes that actually cost more - Poor culture; fiefdoms. Rife nepotism, cronyism & favouritism. Silo-operating. An “it’s all too hard” attitude to biggest problems - Preference for short-term wins & benefits, often exacerbating long-term problems - Exec can’t seem to turn their strategy into a logical delivery plan - Senior managers that have come-up internally lack understanding of basic management concepts (projects, process, risk, governance)
