Pros

Sporting Goods, Well recognized Brand

Cons

Terrible upper management Toxic environment, everyone is miserable...and it's obvious. Terrible compensation, they do not pay for good people All of the talented, hardworking, and passionate employees leave....leaving a company full of lazy and undereducated individuals. If you are driven, passionate, and motivated for growth, this is not the place for you. The way you will be treated will make you bitter and eventually strip you of your passion and work ethic. There is a decent work/life balance only because eventually you just do not care anymore. That's a terrible place to be...and that is the place everyone is at. It's like Walking Dead. When one person quits, they give you their entire workload, with ZERO extra compensation. You oblige thinking this will lead to upward mobility.... it does not. The opportunity for advancement is non-existent. They would rather hire someone new, for less money. They do not pay for experience or reward stellar employees. You MIGHT get a 1% raise at the end of year, but so does the moron whose job you have been doing for years. There is no incentive to keep going above and beyond. Cultures and values--what cultures and values?? The only culture I was witness to was the "good ole boys club." Someone should tell RP that an ice cream truck twice during the summer does not boost moral. And that a $25 Walmart gift card for the holidays is a slap in the face. Three key fundamentals to running a business: People, Process, Product. Rawlings does not care about their people, nor do they hire the most talented, but the cheapest. You have no voice at Rawlings and if you try to use it, you are blacklisted. There are no leaders setting process and making sure that people adhere to them. It's mayhem. Constantly. In fact, none of the leaders that they have in place possess leadership qualities. Can you say passive aggressive? Luckily, Rawlings has good product, but sooner or later the "leaders" are going to destroy the brand, and then you have nothing.

Pros

-Pretty decent pay but that's only because I was bonus eligible -Hybrid Work Schedule (Tuesday-Thursday in office; Monday & Friday remote) -Laid back work attire (can wear hats and jeans every day if you want to) -Corporate sample sales for heavy discount gloves and bats

Cons

-Lots of rats/snakes work here; be careful who you talk to. Because of the lack of communication and lack of growth, employees tend to "rat" on each other all the time to gain an advantage on each other. -Zero to little growth - people may work here for 8-10 years before being promoted (a 20 year company veteran who had their MBA for the past couple years was finally promoted to Manager at year 19?!?) -Promotions are only celebrated and communicated in certain departments. The rest of the time, you only know someone is promoted when you see it on Teams. And when you tell them "Congratulations!", they ssshh you in fear of retaliation because "no one is supposed to know"....this is absolutely pathetic -Transparency (zero to little communication on company direction, goals, or initiatives). Poor communication within departments and even worse between different departments -Poor ethics, empathy, and leadership -Extremely Poor HR Management - Leaders will lie on employee performance reviews with no concern from HR to correct or hear both sides of the story (regardless of actual evidence). Because there is no true "justice" at Rawlings for the employee's facts and narrative to be heard, A LOT of good people are pushed out because of toxic, egotistical, narcistic, and unethical leaders they hired years ago and won't get rid of.
